In this special occasion of Christmas Day, Apostle Edmonds started with the understanding of love which he had, prior to the knowledge of the truth. He said he has seen love in the acts of people like expressions to one another etc. but he didn’t know that love is a person. All he knew about love was feelings, expressions, caring etc. until he read the Bible.
In 1 John 4v8, the scripture says; “He who does not love does not know God, for God is love”. That was an eye opener to him because he used to think God as an instructor who says what to do and what not to do. But after reading the above scripture, he was in that divine ecstasy and wanted to know the God who is love. Love is not relationship but in relationship, there is love. From the old testament to the new testament, love’s relationship with man is demonstrated out by how He wants to mend our relationship with Him, how He wants to correct our problems etc., but in the new testament it was expressed. In the Old Testament, expression is there but this level of expression that we are talking about mentioned in the New Testament, is the highest expression of God as love. John 1v14; “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth”. For you to understand the capacity and the depth of this verse, you have to read verse one that says; “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. So, the Word was God and that same Word became flesh. This verse is the highest expression of love.
